ねぇ、知ってる? 海の起源は、たった一しずくの女の子の涙だったのよ 

－この映画は、実際に起きた四姉妹の事件と、寺山修司原作の“少女詩集”をモチーフにした物語である

子供は大人のミニチュアではなく、独自の意思と感情、世界観を持って生きている。

そして、彼女たちには自分たちを取り巻く現実に悲しみや嫌悪感を示し、それを変えようと試みる力があるのに、なぜか大人たちは自分たちにも子供時代があったということを忘れてしまう、もしくは気づかないふりをしていて、子供は無力だと思い込んでいる。 

本作品は、単純な子供向けの映画ではなく、おとぎ話の中に現実社会が抱える家庭の問題を織り交ぜ、大人へ向けた少女たちの反逆のメッセージを伝えたい。

そして、どんな世代の人の中にも、小さなもう一人の“私”がいることを思い出してほしい。

This beautiful poem by Shuji Terayama is pivotal to our movie.  It’s the story of 4 young girls who immerse themselves in the world of fantasy and fairy tales to escape their dismal lives.

Children have their own desires, their own feelings and their own views of the world, they are not simply miniature adults. Above all, children have the power to change any reality they dislike which is causing them unhappiness and anxiety. On the other hand, adults seem to be convinced that children are powerless. 

This film is not a simple film for children. While it describes a world of innocence and sensitivity, it also shows the reality of family problems through the fairy tales conjured up in their own imaginations and delivers the girls’ rebellious message. It tries to tell us to remember that everyone has another little one of me in themselves.
